Ralph A. Castillo, CPA, CEO of Morgan Medical Center
On January 18 we’re joined by Ralph A. Castillo, CPA, CEO of Morgan Medical Center.
Ralph A. Castillo, CPA, CEO of Morgan Medical Center, recently explored a variety of topics from innovation in rural healthcare to his personal leadership vision, in an interview with “Invest: Atlanta,” a business publication from Capital Analytics.
Castillo shared his perspective on the state of healthcare in Georgia and how Morgan Medical Center fits into the equation. This includes the hospital’s financial ability to serve the uninsured, how they assess the community’s healthcare needs, the active recruitment of advanced specialists, community education programs, and more.
Morgan Medical Center’s investment in technology, specifically bringing advanced diagnostic imaging into the rural hospital setting, proved to be a key topic of conversation. Additionally, Castillo discussed the dynamic between the business side of healthcare and patient care. The patient remains the focus, he explained, with the business aspect only serving as a vehicle to deliver outstanding medical care.
That specific message echoes Morgan Medical Center’s vision statement, which is to operate as a Patient Focused Center of Excellence, something Castillo emphasized in the interview. This comes to fruition, he said, when the hospital focuses on the three E’s: Evolution, Excellence, and Execution.
“At the heart of it all is the patient,” Castillo told the publication. “Whether someone walks through our ER doors at 2:30 a.m. or arrives for specialty care, our goal is to give them the best possible outcome. That might mean treating them here or recognizing when a transfer is best. Either way, we strive to be their first call — the place people trust when something’s wrong. We may be small, but that’s our advantage. We know our patients by name. They are never just a number here.”
