T. Stephen Powell III, MD
T. Stephen Powell, MD, is a board-certified Family Medicine physician who received his medical education from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine followed by Family Medicine residency training also at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Dr. Powell practices full-spectrum Family Medicine to persons aged 12 and up, providing wellness exams, preventive screenings, sick visits, acute conditions, and chronic disease management with a special interest in LGBTQ health as well as addiction medicine.
Helping Patients Relax
When meeting a patient for the first time, Dr. Powell takes a distinctive approach. “I like to make a personal connection before going straight to the medicine and I have an innate ability to make the most stressful situations calm,” he says. In discussing medical issues, Dr. Powell likes to adapt to each patient’s personality. “Some people will tell you everything you need to know, others need further probing,” he says. “I’m open to any approach in making the correct diagnosis.”

Dr. Powell will make sure you understand all aspects to manage each condition appropriately. “Whether treating a bug bite or multiple chronic conditions like diabetes, I strive to educate my patients on their conditions thoroughly to achieve the best possible outcomes.”

Amita Nawathe, MD
Amita Nawathe, MD is a Primary Care Physician at Emory Healthcare. Dr. Nawathe completed her Family Medicine Residency at Mercer University/ Navicent Health in Macon, GA where she received her second Gold Foundation Award for Humanism and Excellence in Teaching. She is a Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician. Dr. Nawathe’s academic interests include preventative medicine, family planning, women’s health, adolescent medicine, obesity, nutrition/exercise, geriatric medicine and healthy aging, as well as managing chronic disease. Dr. Nawathe and her husband live in the Greater Atlanta area. She enjoys traveling, reading, art, cycling and spending time with her family and friends.
