Drs. Shuvro De, Wes Ludwig, Joseph Song, Bryce Wyatt, and Kevin Yang of Georgia Urology

On January 19, Drs. Shuvro De, Wes Ludwig, Joseph Song, Bryce Wyatt, and Kevin Yang of Georgia Urology join us in the studio.

Shuvro De, M.D.

Dr. Shuvro De graduated magna cum laude with a degree in biochemistry and cell biology from Rice University in Houston, Texas. He completed both medical school and his residency at the University of Texas-Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Following his residency, he completed a pediatric urology fellowship at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

In addition to receiving numerous awards and recognitions, Dr. De has contributed multiple journal articles and research presentations in pediatric urology. He is a member of the American Urological Association as well as the Society of Pediatric Urology. Dr. De’s specialties include pediatric management of spina bifida, robotic surgeries, and voiding dysfunction.

In his spare time, Dr. De both watches and plays soccer, a sport he has enjoyed since childhood. Additionally, Dr. De enjoys traveling with his wife and their two children. The family likes to explore different cultures and try new foods together.

Originally from Snellville, Dr. De is delighted to once again live in Georgia. He practices at Georgia Urology’s Athens and Glenridge locations.

Wes Ludwig, M.D.

Dr. Wesley Ludwig is a native of Roswell, Georgia. He graduated magna cum laude from Brandeis University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Arts in History. There he also received his master’s degree in Neuroscience. Dr. Ludwig graduated medical school with distinction at the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism honor societies.

Dr. Ludwig completed his internship in general surgery and residency in urological surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he received numerous awards for clinical excellence including: Outstanding Surgical Intern, the Brady Award and Outstanding Resident in Minimally Invasive Surgery. He was also inducted into the Frank L. Coulson Academy for Clinical Excellence.

During his research fellowship, Dr. Ludwig investigated genitourinary cancers as well as novel techniques for the treatment of kidney stones. He published over 50 journal articles, textbook chapters and presentations throughout his residency.

In addition, Dr. Ludwig is also a member of multiple professional societies such as the American Urological Association, the Endourological Society, the Engineering and Urology Society, and the Society for Laparoscopic Surgeons.

Dr. Ludwig’s areas of interest are in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia and lower urinary tract symptoms, robotic surgery for urologic cancers, and the treatment of complex kidney stones.

Dr. Ludwig and his wife, a nurse, have three children. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing and being in the great outdoors.

Joseph Song, M.D.

Dr. Joseph Song graduated summa cum laude with a degree in biology from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed both medical school and his residency at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. In addition to receiving numerous awards and recognitions, he has published 18 articles and book chapters as well as presented 12 abstracts and podiums. His research interests include prostate cancer, kidney cancer, urethral strictures, and pelvic pain. In his spare time, Dr. Song enjoys dabbling in aquascaping, woodworking, and cooking. Occasionally, he plays the violin. He and his wife have two children as well as a chihuahua spaniel. Dr. Song practices near the area he grew up at Georgia Urology’s Gwinnett and Lawrenceville locations.

Bryce Wyatt, M.D.

Dr. Wyatt graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. He received his medical doctorate at the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Wyatt chose to focus on Urology due to the field’s broad scope of both clinical and surgical medicine. While completing his residency in the Department of Urology at the Medical University of South Carolina, he received several recognitions, including the Alexander Kirkland Jr. Excellence in Care Award. His compassion for those in need found Dr. Wyatt providing urological care to veterans, which he cites as a pivotal experience.

The urological field remains on the frontline of medical innovation, often breaking ground with methods such as robotic and laser surgeries. This attracts Dr. Wyatt, who stays abreast on the latest medical breakthroughs as a member of the American Urological Association. He is also a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Solving urological problems through surgery and connecting with patients on a personal level fuel Dr. Wyatt’s passion for his work. In addition to general urology, his specialties are endourology, prosthesis, and robotics.

Originally from Warner Robins, Georgia, Dr. Wyatt enjoys traveling with his wife and daughter as well as running and watching college football.

Kevin Yang, M.D.

Dr. Kevin Yang grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. After attending high school at the Boston Latin School, he earned his bachelor’s of science summa cum laude in biology from Boston College. He later went on to complete his Doctor of Medicine degree at the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. He finished his urology residency training at the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts followed by a fellowship in robotic surgery for urologic reconstruction and oncology from Temple University in Philadelphia.

“I was always good with science and research throughout my education and training,” Dr. Yang said. “But above all, I enjoy seeing a patient satisfied with his or her health after treatment; that alone made urology the most fulfilling job in the world for me.”

Aside from being published in multiple journals and presenting abstracts in national conferences, Dr. Yang is also a member of the American Urological Association. Dr. Yang’s specialties include robotic urologic surgery for cancers, ureteral strictures, and large prostates, in addition to general urologic conditions. He sees patients at Georgia Urology’s Fayetteville office.

Outside of the office, Dr. Yang likes to spend time with his wife and baby, travel, build computers, and rock climb.
