This week, we’re joined in studio by Dr. Charles Shieh, a thoracic surgeon who will discuss the importance of lung screenings.

Dr. Shieh is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Dr. Shieh completed his residency in General Surgery at Lankenau Medical Center in Philadelphia and clinical fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Prior to joining DeKalb Medical, Dr. Shieh was Staff Surgeon with Baltimore, Maryland-based LifeBridge Health, where he introduced and developed the minimally-invasive program in thoracic surgery, including thoracoscopic anatomic pulmonary resection, electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound-guided needle aspiration, and laparoscopic treatment of esophageal conditions.
The author of a number of chapters and papers, Dr. Shieh’s clinical interests includes minimally-invasive approaches to the lung and mediastinum, and in particular thoracic oncology.
Dr. Shieh is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and is board certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
