Dr. Earl Stewart of Wellstar Health System

This week, we’re discussing Men’s Health Month–including mental health– with Dr. Earl Stewart of Wellstar Health System.

Dr. Earl Stewart Jr. is a 2009 alumnus of the Mercer University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Latin, graduating cum laude. He earned his medical degree from Meharry Medical College School of Medicine and completed his residency training in categorical internal medicine at Brown University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and has received numerous honors, including being named a Georgia Trend Top Doctor in 2021 and a 2022 40 Under 40 Leader in Minority Health by the National Minority Quality Forum (NMQF).

Dr. Stewart is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and currently practices with the Wellstar Health System in Atlanta, Georgia. He serves as medical director for the Wellstar Center for Health Equity. In this role, he works closely with executive leadership, medical staff, and nursing teams to develop and implement strategies that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout Wellstar. He reports directly to the vice president of Wellstar Clinical Partners and the senior vice president and Chief Culture & Team Member Experience Officer, helping lead initiatives focused on patient experience, cultural competency, employee engagement, and community partnerships.

In addition to serving as a 2023 Climate and Health Equity Fellow (CHEF) with the Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health, Dr. Stewart was also selected as a 2023 Doximity Digital Health Fellow. He is a proud and active Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., through the Omicron Mu Lambda chapter in Cobb County, Georgia.
