Dr. Earl Stewart, Jr. of Wellstar Health System joins The Weekly Check-Up on June 29, 2025.
Stewart is an internal medicine physician & medical director of health equity with Wellstar Health System. He’s known for his compassionate care and commitment to improving health outcomes across diverse communities. With a strong foundation in clinical medicine and population health, Stewart brings a thoughtful, patient-centered approach to conversations about wellness, prevention and chronic disease management.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in biology, with minors in chemistry and Latin (cum laude), from Mercer University, and received his medical degree from Meharry Medical College. He completed his residency in categorical internal medicine at Brown University.
Stewart is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and has been nationally recognized for his leadership in health care innovation. His honors include being named a Georgia Trend Top Doctor in 2021 and a 2022 “40 Under 40 Leader in Minority Health” by the National Minority Quality Forum. In 2023, he was selected as a Climate and Health Equity Fellow with the Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health and a Doximity Digital Health Fellow.
