Dr. Craig Berger of Bay Area Eye Institute joins us on June 29.
Dr. Craig Berger is a board-certified, cornea fellowship-trained ophthalmic surgeon. He opened the Bay Area Eye Institute in 2007, specializing in cataracts, keratoconus, and other corneal diseases. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of multiple local and national professional societies. Dr. Berger was named to the Best Doctors in America® database in both 2007 and 2012. He is a Patients’ Choice Award winner in both 2017 and 2018. Winning the 2017 Best Doctors Award, he is one of the top physicians selected by his peers. Dr. Berger has performed a wide variety of refractive surgeries, including PRK, LASIK, INTACS and no injection, sutureless cataract surgery. In 2022, he added Light Adjustable Lens (LAL), the first and only implant that can be customized after cataract surgery. Additionally, he is one of the very few surgeons in the Tampa Bay area offering corneal cross-linking, which is 88% effective at halting the progression of keratoconus. In 2019, Dr. Berger was named number one in the state of Florida and top ten in the nation by Avedro/Glaukos for corneal cross-linking procedures. He also offers DMEK corneal transplants to treat Fuchs’ endothelial dystrophy and corneal edema.
