Isabel Soles, PA-C, Clinical Director of YourTown Health
A native of Miami, Florida, Soles received her undergraduate degree at Georgia State University in Atlanta before attending the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. She completed both the UCLA/Johnson & Johnson Health Care MBA Executive Program and the Harvard Medical School Center for Primary Care Clinical Leadership Program.
“As a physician assistant and clinical director, my training models those that physicians take in medical school,” she says. “Supervising physicians value this parallel in our training and clinical approach, which allows for the ultimate trust and communication in a professional partnership.”
Soles’ career at YourTown Health began in 1994. In 2007, she accepted the position of Clinical Director, which she calls her most exciting professional experience to date. “I was given the important job of organizing and overseeing people and programs in YourTown Health’s clinical department,” she explains. “Being given the responsibility to supervise and participate in issues relating to employees, budget, technology, and operations has taught me excellent management and mentoring skills.”
According to Soles, her colleagues at YourTown Health continue to inspire her with passion, positivity, and empathy. The most rewarding part of her job, she says, is working for an organization adhering to the core values of honesty, integrity, and caring toward all employees and patients.
Providing the highest quality of care possible and allowing patients to feel their absolute best remains her number one goal. Soles’ favorite quote from poet Maya Angelou reflects this idea: “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
When she’s not working, Soles enjoys spending time with her family, working on home renovations, and gardening.
Avantika Varma, MD
A New York native, Dr. Avantika Varma received her undergraduate degree at Kasturba Medical College before earning her doctoral degree at the American University of Antigua College of Medicine. Dr. Varma completed a residency at Mount Carmel Health System.
“Joining YourTown Health to develop and launch the HIV Prevention and Treatment program has truly been an exciting opportunity,” Dr. Varma says. “My goals are to help decrease the rates of HIV in our community and to improve patient health outcomes. This program will increase access to care for so many patients in our community that need these services.”
As Medical Director of HIV Services at YouTown Health, Dr. Varma specializes in HIV prevention and treatment. She is an active member of the American Academy of HIV Medicine and the American Academy of Family Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Varma is a credentialed HIV specialist.
Dr. Varma enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and dancing. Her favorite quote comes from Michelle Obama: “Always stay true to yourself and never let what somebody else says distract you from your goals.”
