The Weekly Check-Up welcomes urologist Dr. Amar Raval of the Advanced Urology Institute on October 15 to discuss enlarged prostate and BPH.
Dr. Amar Raval joined Urology Specialists of West Florida after completing his residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He was born in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, and raised in Tampa, FL. He received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences graduating Summa Cum Laude at the University of South Florida in 2007 and his medical degree from Florida State University College of Medicine in 2011.
Dr. Raval has been fortunate to have co-authored peer-reviewed journal articles and presented urologic research at regional and national conferences. During his residency, he received awards for academic achievement and humanitarian service in Haiti. He served in leadership roles in quality improvement initiatives and urologic education committees.
Dr. Raval is well-trained in minimally invasive robotic surgery, laparoscopy, endoscopy, and open surgery. He has clinical interest in treating a variety of urologic conditions from stone disease and prevention, overactive bladder, erectile dysfunction, urinary incontinence, and prostate enlargement. He is committed to providing patient-centered care based on compassion, trust, and mutual respect. Outside of practice, he enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and golfing.
