Cara Bryan of South Tampa Voice Therapy

On August 29, we are joined by Cara Bryan, speech language pathologist and founder of South Tampa Voice Therapy.

Founder of the Practice, Cara Bryan received her undergraduate degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Music vocal performance as a classically trained soprano. Cara attended graduate school in speech pathology at the University of Iowa and received her master’s degree in 2002.

Cara’s graduate coursework included intensive studies in vocology and voice science with renowned physicist and voice scientist Ingo Titze, PhD. Cara served as Dr. Titze’s teaching assistant for his Principles of Voice Production class at the Denver Center of the Performing Arts Summer Vocology Institute in 2002. Cara completed an externship with Joseph Stemple, PhD and Bernice Klaben, PhD at the Blaine Block Institute of Voice Analysis and Rehabilitation in 2002.

She completed her master’s thesis under the tutelage of Eileen Finnegan, PhD and published her research in the Journal of Voice, Resonant Voice: Spectral and Nasendoscopic Analysis.

Cara’s clinical fellowship was completed at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics-Department of Otolaryngology, serving under laryngologist Harry Hoffman, MD and speech pathologist Michael Karnell, PhD.

Cara is a licensed speech language pathologist, voice and singing specialist who has been practicing since 2002. Her special interests include care of the performing voice, vocal rehabilitation of professional voice users, progressive neurological diseases, vocal cord dysfunction, and chronic cough.

Prior to founding South Tampa Voice Therapy, Cara’s clinical experiences were in the acute care and outpatient hospital settings. She is certified in LSVT LOUD, trained in videostroboscopy, fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallow (FEES), modified barium swallow studies (MBS), and maintains various certifications in clinical approaches. Cara is a member of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA), National Center for Voice and Speech (NCVS), and affiliate member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS- Tampa Bay chapter).

Cara has lived in Tampa since 2003. Cara is busy with her husband and two children. She continues to take voice lessons, sings in the church choir, performs solo work, exercises, enjoys her children’s sports and activities, and is an avid Carolina Tar Heel fan.
