This week, Dr. Lisa Welch of DeKalb Medical will join us to discuss healthcare with your primary physician and patient rights. Dr. Welch has practiced at South DeKalb Primary Care in Decatur for 15 years and has special interests in patient education, women’s health, and preventative health.

Lisa Welch, M.D., received her undergraduate degree from Auburn University in Alabama and attended medical school at the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, where the mission of the school is to provide quality healthcare to the underserved. She completed her residency and internship in Internal Medicine at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, Virginia. She is board certified in Internal Medicine.

Dr. Welch has practiced medicine at South DeKalb Primary Care in the Decatur area for 15 years. She is on staff at DeKalb Medical. Some of her interests include educating patients about healthcare concerns, women’s health, preventative and health maintenance, and providing healthcare to underserved areas, where she has stayed true to the mission of the Morehouse School of Medicine. She treats a broad range of chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity and hyperlipidemia.

Some of her outside interests include reading, traveling and shopping. She lives in Duluth, Georgia, with her husband of 11 years and has two daughters.
