“I joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) to assist with bringing new and forward-thinking treatment options to cancer patients. What I think makes CTCA different is the commitment to care of the whole person, who happens to be our patient, and their family. There is also a relentless desire to improve the care and treatment of cancer patients.” – George William Daneker, Jr., MD

Dr. George Daneker brings nearly 30 years of surgical experience to his positions as Chief of Staff and Chief of Surgery at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Southeast Regional Medical Center.

One of the first doctors to join the brand-new team at our new hospital in Newnan, Georgia, Dr. Daneker notes that he is excited to practice medicine in an integrated, multidisciplinary cancer center.

With a career covering the breadth of surgical oncology, Dr. Daneker has had extensive experience in management of patients with intraabdominal cancers (liver, pancreas, bile duct, stomach, intestine, colorectal, adrenal), skin and soft tissue cancers (melanoma and sarcoma) and breast cancer. Board certified, he is also skilled at advanced, high-tech procedures, such as laparoscopic surgery and robotic procedures.

Dr. Daneker first joined the CTCA team in 2011 as a staff surgical oncologist at our Philadelphia hospital. Prior to working with CTCA, Dr. Daneker served as the Director of Surgical Oncology, Oncology Research and Robotic-Assisted General Surgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta. Additional prestigious appointments he has held include Chief of General and Colorectal Surgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Cancer Liaison Physician for the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and Director of Oncology Research in the Department of Surgery at the Emory University School of Medicine.

Despite the esteemed recognition he has received for his work throughout the years, Dr. Daneker is most proud of “having the privilege to help patients regain their health and life.”

Bonnie Bajorek Daneker, Dr. Daneker’s wife and the love of his life, is currently the President/CEO of Write Advisors, a literary consultancy firm. The couple has three sons, the oldest of which, Spencer, serves in the United States Air Force. One of their twin sons, Elliot, attends culinary school at Gwinett Tech, while Matt is a pre-law government major at Georgia College. The Daneker family has a strong interest in service, especially on the issues of homelessness, hunger, access to medical care and underprivileged girls and women. Passionate about flying, Dr. Daneker holds a private pilot license with instrument rating, and is currently working on his commercial pilot’s license.
