This Sunday, we discussed joint pain with two orthopedic experts from DeKalb Medical: Dr. Scott Barbour and Dr. Maurice Jove.

A practicing joint specialist in Atlanta and former All-American rugby player, Dr. Scott Barbour’s talents as a competitive athlete and skilled surgeon allow him to expertly meet the needs of both recreational and professional athletes.

A magna cum laude graduate of the St. Louis University School of Medicine, Dr. Barbour is currently one of the few doctors nationwide performing arthroscopic hip surgery and biologic joint surgery for the relief of joint pain. Barbour received his orthopaedic surgery training at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he completed his residency program.

While there, he trained under the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Miami Dolphins Team orthopedic surgeons gaining tremendous experience in the diagnosis and treatment of sports related injuries. In addition, Dr. Barbour conducted his fellowship training in sports medicine at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, where he worked with the San Jose Sharks Hockey Team, the Oakland Raiders Football Team, and the United States Rugby Team.

A joint specialist in Atlanta for more than 24 years, Maurice Jove M.D. is an orthopedist who offers his patients an advanced approach to joint care that maximizes results and minimizes recovery time. The Lead Physician for the Joint Solutions Center, Dr. Jove specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of arthritis, total joint replacement surgery, hip resurfacing, fracture care, sports medicine and general orthopedics. Dr. Jove is also proud to serve as the Team Physician for the following area high schools:

  • Walnut Grove

Dr. Jove earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in 1980 and completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals. Board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
